When you receive your new knob you will see that at the back there is a d shaped hole that locates over the control shaft, this often split allowing the knob to rotate without changing the programme. The knob is held in position by little plastic 'tabs' that when pushed into the front panel spring out and prevent the knob from being removed. Take off the top, fascia and pcb to remove this knob.
