My oven is tripping my electricity, the oven light comes on but as soon as I switch on the grill or oven (same turn switch) the breaker trips, is this switch likely to blow before the grill/oven element?

It is more likely one of the elements are going down to earth causing the electrics to trip, you need to test the elements to establish which one has failed.
