This is the correct spare for my Cannon Pearl Duo cooker but the piece at the back has sheared off so that it can not be fitted easily. How do I remove the broken bit to enable me to fit the knob ?

If the shaft has broken of the gas tap the tap must be replaced. We recommend that only people registered with the Gas Safe Register make this type of repair. Maybe a good option for you would be to use a repair company like "Repaircare" who offer a fixed price option.
