How to Find Your Oven Model Number

It's important to know where to find your oven model number as it will come in handy when you are trying to diagnose faults or replace parts in your appliance. If your oven has developed a fault and you find you need to replace a part to fix it, knowing your model number information will help you locate the correct spare to fit your appliance. Many spare parts look very similar but they do vary in size and shape so although a part may look like it will fit your appliance, it might not actually be suitable.

Your model number is also important for the safety of your oven. Manufacturers sometimes recall appliances due to safety concerns. When they do this, they will release a series of model numbers so you can check if yours has been recalled. Your appliance model number will be located on a rating plate or a sticker that contains information about your appliance.

In most cookers and ovens, the model number can be found inside one of the doors, around the frame.

If you can't find it here, it could be around the rim of the door itself.

Another place to look is inside the oven on one of the side panels.

If you can't find it in any of the above places, check the sides and the back of the appliance or in the warming draw underneath the oven if your model has one of these.

When you have located the model number, you'll then need to know what to look for. The format of the model number and the product or serial number varies depending on the manufacturer of the appliance. The model number will typically be a combination of letters and numbers and also contain special characters such as a dash or a slash. The model number will often be indicated with "Model" or "Mod" in front of it.

For AEG, Electrolux, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix, John Lewis and Frigidaire ovens, you will need to take note of your model number as well as the specific product number. This is usually an 11 digit number that starts with a '9' and before the last 2 digits has a space or a slash.

For Hoover, Candy, Baumatic and Haier models, you will need to look for the model number as well as a serial number which is 16 digits long and starts with a '3'.

For Whirlpool, Ignis, Bauknecht, KitchenAid, Maytag, Proline, Hotpoint, Indesit and Amana ovens, be sure to take note of the model number and the service number which is 12 digits long and starts with '85'.
