How to Fix a Broken Washing Machine Door Hinge - Hotpoint

By putting too much pressure or weight on a washing machine door it’s very easy to break either the hinge, hinge bearings or the plastic trims of the door. In this video Rory demonstrates how to replace all these parts.

eSpares are able to offer you a wide range of replacement door hinges, bearings and door trims - so you can be confident of getting the correct part you need to get your appliance back in full working order,

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Switch Off Your Appliance

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Step 2 - Remove The Door & Door Bowl

Unscrew the screws on the hinge and you will be able to remove the door from the machine. You then need to separate the inner and outer trims from each other, which you do by removing the screws.

With the screws removed you will be able to unclip the trims from each other, which means you will now be able to lift the bowl out with the inner trim.

The hinge and the hinge bearings are the most commonly broken parts, and these simply lift out and are replaceable.

In another video, you can also see us replace the door release mechanism - which is another easy job.

Step 3 - Fit The Door Back Together

All that is left to do now is to replace the inner trim and the bowl and screw it all back up.

Once you’ve replaced anything that was broken on the hinge or the door, it’s ready to go back on the machine.

So there you go then, all done! - you have now learnt how to replace the hinges, bearings and the trims on the door to your washing machine. You can now continue doing the washing with the peace of mind that you have a safe and secure door.
