How to Fix a Tumble Dryer Condenser Pump (Beko)

The condenser pump in your dryer is a key component of condenser tumble dryers; it removes the condensed water from the reservoir of the machine during the drying cycle.

If your tumble dryer is running and heating, but not pumping water to the container above the drum then it's likely that the pump has failed and it needs replacing.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

  What You Will Need:

  Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

  Step 2 - Remove Hose and Pump Cover

To access the pump and cover first we need to remove the hose connected on the pump. Gently push the hose inside the machine, but not too far that you can't retrieve it at the end of the pump fix.

If you do push the hose up too far you will have to remove the sides and the top to retrieve it, so do make sure you just push it up to a level that clears the pump cover.

Now to pull down the pump cover by pushing down on the tabs and lifting the flap down.

  Step 3 - Releasing the Reservoir Housing

The next thing to do is disconnect the electrical connections; you do not need to take photographs as they’re not interchangeable.

Now we can release the second pipe making sure that it is loose inside the machine and then release the reservoir housing from the dryer. On the reservoir housing, there is likely to be around six tabs which need to be released using a flat head screwdriver, allowing you to remove the housing entirely.

The reservoir housing can be very tightly fitted in so it's a good idea to lever out one side, lift it up and then lever the pump to make it easier to come out.

  Step 4 - Replacing Old Pump

Now for the new pump…the pump is held in place by a little ridge and a little lip at the bottom. So to remove the old pump simply put a bit of pressure on the outside to release it through and a little bit of pressure on the other side to release.

To put the new pump in simply push in on one side and do the same with the other.

  Step 5 - Re-connecting Pump Housing to Dryer

We’re almost done…now let’s put the reservoir back in place. To fit the reservoir housing and pump back to your machine make sure the electrical connections are out of the way and that the two hoses you've removed are just inside the machine.

Start off by putting your pump end in first, lever it up a little and then you can slip the other side into place and lock it in using the tabs.

Don’t forget about the float in the reservoir housing, make sure that it is under the switch lever so that the float switch works correctly.

  Step 6 - Re-assembly

Let’s wrap this up…now that the reservoir housing is securely fitted in its place we can now reconnect the electrical connections.

With the electrical connections all connected, we can now reattach the second pipe, close the cover up and then reattach the first pipe that we disconnected.
