If your tumble dryer doesn’t turn on when you press the start button, it may indicate the start switch is defective and will need replacing.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar and due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Remove the Upper Lid And Water Drawer
Start by removing the upper dishwasher lid by undoing the two screws at the back. Pull out the water drawer as we need to remove the control panel next.
Step 3 - Remove the Control Panel Assembly
Grab your screwdriver and unscrew the four screws at the top of the control panel and two more in front of the detergent drawer housing.
Once you’ve removed the screws the fascia panel will still be fixed in place, due to the program selector knob. We will remove that along with the start button.
To make sure you’re not damaging the control knob or fascia panel housing, we recommend using a blunt knife or flathead screwdriver to softly wedge it between the start button and ease it out.
To release the programme knob, pull it out as far as you can with your hand to create a small gap and pop the knife inside to release it out.
With all the buttons off the control panel, it’s still secured with four electrical wires and a lamp here. You can take an image here for future reference.
To remove the lamp take off the top clip and then the lower clip. Simply unplug all of the other wires and the control panel is now free to remove.
Step 4 - Remove the Faulty Start Switch
Before removing the old switch we will show you the new switch. You can see how the switch is secured in place by the two arrowheads on both sides. When you apply some pressure on them they flex and this is what holds the start switch in place.
To take out the old start switch grab some pliers and hold the switch steady from the back using your hands. With the pliers press on the arrowheads to remove the start switch out the control panel. You may need to apply some sideways pressure on the start switch to release it.
Step 5 - Fit the New Start Switch
Slide your new switch in from behind the control panel and the arrowheads will make sure it secures tightly. Carefully pop the start button back onto the start switch.
Step 6 - Reassemble Your Appliance Back Together
Place the control panel back into position and use the programme knob to secure it temporarily in place whilst you refit the screws and reattach the wires.
Close the dryer door and refit the water drawer. Fix the screws at the back to fit the upper lid back on.
