If your Bosch grass trimmer isn't cutting as it should, it is likely that the trimmer line has run out and needs to be replaced. In this article, we will take you through a step by step guide on how to load trimmer line on a Bosch grass trimmer.

The line in your grass trimmer should last around 2 months with regular mowing. If you have noticed your trimmer is no longer cutting correctly, it's best to check the trimmer line to see if it needs replacing.

Safety Advice
Before you begin, make sure that your grass trimmer is switched off and fully disconnected from the mains.
You'll need:
Step 1: Remove the spool cover
The first thing you need to do is remove the spool cover so you can access the trimmer line. To do this, press in the two tabs on either side of the cover that are connected to the trimmer head, and gently lift the cover upwards.
Step 2: Remove the spool and line
To remove the spool and line, gently pull the spool off the spindle that it sits on.
If there is any trimmer line left over when you do this, make sure you gently feed it through the outlet holes so that the spool and line come away freely from the spindle and the trimmer head.
Step 3: Remove excess line
Even if your trimmer line needs replacing, it may still have some excess line left over. Remove this by gently unwinding it and pulling it away from the spool.
Step 4: Replace the line
To fit the new line, start with the top deck and push a couple of centimetres of line into the hole to keep it in place.
Then, do the same with the bottom deck.
You can then wind the line around the spool in the direction of the arrows. You will need to do this neatly as the line won't feed if it becomes tangled.
Step 5: Leave some line left over
When you have finished, leave a few inches of line out and hook it onto the two cleats on either side of the spool. This will make sure that it doesn't unravel when you refit the spool.
Step 6: Refit the spool
Feed the extra line through the outlet holes on either side.
Then, slot the spool back into place. It should make a click sound when it is fitted correctly.
Step 7: Unhook the line
Now that the spool is secure, you can unhook the line from the cleats using a flathead screwdriver to help you if needed. If you don't do this, the line will not be able to feed through.
Step 8: Refit the spool cover
Finally, you can replace the spool cover. Line up the two tabs on either side and slot the cover back into place.
Now that your trimmer line has been replaced, your grass trimmer should be back up and running again!
