When buying a new hinge, make sure you purchase the correct one. Left-hand and right-hand hinges are often sold separately, so it's important to make sure you buy the right replacement hinge for the correct side of your dishwasher.

Step 1: Remove the top panel
To remove the top panel, unscrew the two screws that hold it in place at the back using a Phillips screwdriver. With the screws removed, you can lift the top panel away and place it aside.
Step 2: Remove the kickplate
Next, remove the kickplate at the bottom of the dishwasher. Again, you will need to unscrew this part to remove it. The screws can be found on the underside of the kickplate, so you will need to lean the dishwasher back against a stable surface to reach them.
Step 3: Remove the side panel
Now you can remove the side panel from whichever side of the dishwasher the faulty hinge lever is located. Once again, unscrew the screws keeping the panel in place at the top before moving the panel aside.
Step 4: Remove the door spring
With the side panel removed, you will be able to see the hinge and the spring. Here, you're going to want to unhook the spring at the top, then lift it away. You may need a pair of pliers to help yourself unhook the spring as it can be quite resistant.
Step 5: Remove the hinge lever
Now you'll be able to remove the faulty hinge lever. You can simply unhook the hinge from the dishwasher door to separate it.
To fully disconnect the hinge, pry away the small locking washer that keeps it connected to the dishwasher with a flat blade screwdriver.
With the washer removed, you will be able to pull the hinge lever free from the dishwasher.
Step 6: Fit the new hinge lever
To fit the new hinge lever, start by slotting it into place in the same spot you removed the faulty one and hook it into the door.
Then secure it into place by fitting the new locking washer. This should come with your new hinge when you buy it.
Step 7: Refit the door spring
Now close the dishwasher door. Before refitting the door spring, take a little grease from the old hinge lever and rub it into the spot where the new hinge and spring fit together for lubrication.
Reconnect the door spring to the hinge, then pull it upwards and hook the top into place. Again, you may need to use a pair of pliers to help as the spring may be resistant.
Step 8: Refit the side panel
With the new hinge in place, you can go ahead and refit the side panel by screwing it back into place on the side of the dishwasher.
Step 9: Refit the kickplate
Then refit the kickplate. Again, you will need to lean the dishwasher back against a stable surface to screw it back in place underneath.
Step 10: Refit the top panel
Finally, refit the top panel and secure it by screwing it in place at the back.
