How to Replace the Front Thermostat on a Tumble Dryer

On this particular Beko tumble dryer it's actually fitted with three thermostats. Two are connected to the heater assembly and one is positioned at the front of the appliance.

If your tumble dryer has overheated the thermostats located on the heater may have tripped. This can easily be reset by pressing the small red button in the centre of the first thermostat. Don’t worry about the second thermostat on the heater, that will reset itself.

So if your tumble dryer is not heating up and you have already checked the heater element and the thermostats fitted to it, the likely issue will be with the front thermostat.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

  What You Will Need:

  Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Step 2 - Remove The Upper Lid

To access the thermostat, we need to remove the upper plastic lid of the tumble dryer, as the front thermostat is located near the control panel. Remove the screws and slide out the upper casing.

Step 3 - Remove The Plastic Bracket On The Control Panel

Pop a flathead screwdriver inside the small opening of the bracket and squeeze it together to remove it.

Step 4 - Remove The Fascia Control Panel

To remove the control panel unscrew the three screws located at the top and the fascia panel should come away.

Step 5 - Detach The Front Thermostat

Simply unscrew the two screws holding the thermostat in place and it should pop out. There should be a gasket on the back of the thermostat which you’ll need to retain and slot over onto the front of your new thermostat.

You can then secure your new thermostat in place with the screws and feed the wire through into the electrical connector. Don’t forget to reconnect the electrical connectors leading into the thermostat.

Step 6 - Reassemble Your Appliance

Screw the control panel and the top lid back into place and you’re all done.

You’ve now finished your repair and fitted a brand new thermostat to your tumble dryer. This is another job you can add to your accomplishment list. If you need to locate the correct thermostat for your tumble dryer or require any other spares for your dryer click here.
