How to Replace the Temperature Sensor on a Miele Tumble Dryer

If your tumble dryer is no longer heating up, is overheating or is cutting out during a cycle, it is likely that the temperature sensor is faulty and will need to be replaced. The tumble dryer temperature sensor acts as a safety for the heating element so if it overheats, it will cut the power to the heating element. In this article, we're going to show you how to replace the temperature sensor on a Miele tumble dryer and get your appliance back to its top working condition.

How to replace the temperature sensor on a Miele tumble dryer step by step

Step 1: Find the model number

The first thing you will need to do is find the right replacement temperature sensor to fit your Miele tumble dryer model. To do this, you will need to locate the appliance model number. This can usually be found on the door panel of your tumble dryer or around the the door itself. If you can't find it here, take a look at our article which helps you locate the model number and also shows you what to do if the model number has rubbed off.

You are looking for a data plate with the words 'MOD' or 'Model' followed by a number which usually consists of a combination of letters and numbers and could also include characters such as a dash (-) or a slash (/).

Step 2: Remove the heater cover

When you have the correct part, you can go ahead and remove the heater cover. To do this, use a Torx screwdriver to remove all of the screws around the heater cover. You can then lift the cover off and place it to one side.

Step 3: Remove the temperature sensor

The temperature sensor is held in place by two metal tabs at either side. Use a pair of pliers to gently bend those back.

You can then lift the temperature sensor out and disconnect the electrical connection.

Step 4: Fit the new sensor

To fit the new sensor, connect the electrical connection to the replacement and put it back into place.

Step 5: Refold the metal tabs

You will now need to fold the metal tabs back to hold the temperature sensor in place. Be very gentle when you do this as to not damage the tabs.

Step 6: Refit the heater cover

Now the new temperature sensor is in place, refit the heater cover and replace the screws.
