Cooker Knobs Melting

To diagnose a faulty gasket, you can perform the following steps to be able to confirm if a replacement is needed.
- Check for any clear signs of damage to the gasket as this will impair the seal’s ability to keep the lovely warm air inside your oven
- With the oven switched on, check around the door, if you feel warm air blowing out then you will have identified a gap in the seal.

Door Hinge
Another cause for why your control knobs on your cooker seems to be melting away may be due to a faulty door hinge.
If any of the hinges have become defective, the door will not shut correctly and this will then allow the warm air to escape - causing the damage to your cooker knob.
- It is ideal to replace them as soon as you can to ensure your cooker can continue to safely cook your dishes, without losing heat and causing damage to your knobs.

Cooling Fan
Another part that can cause the knobs to melt on your cooker is the cooling fan. The cooling fan kicks in when the main oven motor and element are getting hot.
It blows air to cool the controls and helps remove excess heat from the cabinet, so it cools down the oven quickly once you've stopped using it.
If it’s faulty while your cooking a meal, any warm air that escapes when the door is opened can then possibly cause the knobs to melt.
