Smeg Dishwasher Error Code E04

If your Smeg dishwasher is showing you an E04 error code on the control panel display, and it’s driving you crazy thinking that you need to do the dishes by hand again, it might not be for very long.

Usually, this error occurs if there is a problem with the temperature sensor, causing your dishwasher’s performance to deteriorate.

With the help of eSpares and our advice article, you could soon be on your way to determining what the fault is - and maybe even be on your way to fixing the problem yourself too.

Temperature Sensor

Loading the dishwasher after a family meal can be somewhat satisfying knowing you don’t have to stand around the sink for hours scrubbing the dishes. However, if the dishwasher comes to a standstill with an error code, it could spell disaster for effortless washing of dishes.

The NTC sensor in your dishwasher monitors the water temperature, which allows the control board to administer the water heater. If the sensor fails and its resistance is outside the normal limits the control board will recognise this and show this error.

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

  • This part will usually be found pushed into the sump under the wash cavity. In order to locate the sump, remove the base panel and test the device for any defects and replace if required.
