How to Replace a Dishwasher Inlet Valve – Gorenje

The inlet valve is an important part of your dishwasher, as it controls the water flow into the appliance. The main problem that an inlet valve can experience is that they can become blocked or that they can leak.

If your dishwasher inlet valve is blocked, you will notice that it takes longer for the appliance to fill with water. Alternatively, if your problem is that the dishwasher has filled up when not used, it might be that the valve has developed a leak.

If you need to replace the inlet valve but are unsure where to start, there’s no need to panic. We’ll talk you through how to successfully replace the inlet valve without damaging your dishwasher.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please make sure that you have switched your appliance off at the mains before starting your repair.

Step 2 - Unscrew Water Supply From The Valve

We need to get to that elusive inlet valve…you need to turn the appliance around, as the inlet valve is located at the back of the dishwasher near the bottom.

Start by unscrewing the water supply from the back of the valve. Then you need to remove the base plate, that is in the way between you and the elusive inlet valve.

eSpares Top Tip - you may also have to remove the screws from the bottom of the side panels to release the base plate. You will then be able to pull the sides of the dishwasher out slightly, (this will help you to remove the top base plate)

*Please be careful - as the metal around the edges of some of the panels is very sharp and could cause injury.

Step 3 - Remove The Electrical Connectors

The inlet valve will now be fully in your sights! On the back of the valve, there are a couple of electrical connectors to pull off,  and there's also a pipe which is connected by a clip.

This particular type of clip isn't actually designed to be repaired, so in this video, we are going to remove the clip and replace it with a standard jubilee clip.

Step 4 - Replace The Valve

Time to pop in the new inlet valve now...start by working the pipe over the end of the valve, and then re-attach the electrical connectors back onto the terminals.

You can now put the valve back in place. Tighten up the jubilee clip, before finally replacing the back plate on.

You have now successfully been able to replace your dishwasher inlet valve! Now you can get back to having the dishwasher do all the hard work, rather than you have to clean them by hand!
