when i switch on my washing machine the light just flashes once then goes off completley.
hoover HDVision VHD 8143D please advise if you know the problem and what i would need. the display board just flashes once then goes off. The electrical connections are sound. Although the machine still wash'es it wont spin itself i have to physically turn the dial for it to spin. please advise, Thank you SHARON

Check the time it takes for the machine to empty. select rinse and let it fill stop it and select drain. It should empty in under 50 seconds if longer check for blocked filter or hoses. If it spins ok when empty make sure you are not mixing heavy and light items that cause the drum to turn in surges as the weight rises and falls. Check the motor brushes are not worn out as this can also be your problem.
