I am trying to change the clutch on a DE STIJL, I am having difficulty in removing the Brush Roll Housing. It doesn't 'just pop out' as Matt says on the video. Can anyone advise, please? I've been at it for over an hour now.so am desperately needing help

I have also tried prising it off with a screwdriver as advised on another website, but only succeeded in cracking the plastic on the vacuum cleaner body!

  • I'll answer my own question. My Dyson is about 12 years old and as it has never been serviced or needed any attention (well done Dyson) the brushroll housing had seized up in its socket. A squirt of WD40 helped the situation, but I would advise patience to give the WD40 time to work. I was impatientand although it released the brushroll housing a small peice of the socket broke off. Hopefully it'll go back OK!!!! By Anonymous - Preston, Lancs - 20 February 2012
