Fitting a door seal to a Hygena APL0220 (Stoves 059040317) gas oven
You obtained the seal for me which is a genuine Stoves part (excellent) but it looks as though (1) it cannot be replaced from the outside of the oven and (2) a gap (in the seal) should be left at the top because there is a stainless steel plate there which seems to leave no room for the rubber seal. It might be to allow the hot combustion gasses out but I can't remember if the seal was a complete circle when the oven was new. Can you advise me please or supply a drawing?
Answer this Question (1 Answer)
- The door seal can be fitted from the outside of the oven. Old oven door seal may require pliers to grip the old seal, apply a firm pull to remove old seal. Grease and grime tends to build up, has the effect of 'gluing' old seal to oven housing-even with the best general cleaning. The stainless steel plate fitted by the manufacturer ensure's an air gap. I have exactly the same plate in my oven. Clean out the groves before fitting new oven seal. Proceed to fit from bottom, centre of oven housing, working outwards towards the top on either side. Allowing the gap for the stainless steel plate. Simply trim off excess rubber door seal. Hope this helps although I see it is several weeks since you posted your question.
