Please advise what the part I need is that the knob fits onto to turn the oven on. It is worn and does not engage the knob and turn the oven on

Hi Mike, the control knob fits in to a mechanical lock, which sits just behind the control panel. You'll need your cooker's model number to find the right mechanical lock. Check out this page for help: http://www.espares.co.uk/findingmodelnumbers.aspx
