Problem with Whirlpool Akz150 temperature keeps dropping to 160??
Hi I have an old Whirlpool akz 150 single oven. Set oven to desired temp on display. Eg 200 degrees is reached then display drops temp to 160 degrees. Fan/element is triggered back on for a couple of seconds then shuts off again. Clicking can be heard from the display/control module as this happens. If i turn temp setting back up to 200 it just drops straight back down again. After several attempts including opening door switching off etc it may hold the correct temp now and again. Cooling fan starts running soon after switching on and seems to run continuously. Don't know if this is meant to happen.

- Hi, My oven (Whirlpool AKZ 161) has exactly the same symptoms as Alan's and Purplemafs. Resetting back down to 160° part way through the cooking time (after having reached the set desired temperature or sometimes whilst preheating), although it doesn't do it all the time. Has this problem been solved? Which part is required to fix this? Many thanks.

RE Allan Clarkes comment: If the display shows the temperature 'set' to and does not rise as it warms indicating the 'actual' temperature. Then the 'set' temperature changes then either the control or the control board is likely to be faulty.
- I have the same issue with the oven independently reducing the temperature to 160. Which part will fix this. I am a current customer and have ordered items from you before.

That sounds like the board but could be a dodgy control. This may be difficult to prove without substitution. If it where the sensor 'varying' it would not effect the display.
- No the temperature is shown on the front of machine as 160 degrees. The oven is lowering its temperature and not increasing again. Oven gets set to 200, heats up, display jumps to 160 and oven cools to 160 and does not increase back up. It should be staying at 200.... is this the sensor or control panel?

Electric ovens turn on fully until the sensor has reached the correct temperature and will turn off while the element cools. If you are using a digital thermometer in a different area to the sensor you may see these temperature fluctuations until the oven has 'settled' at temperature. This should clear within 5 to 10 mins and to overcome this you may need to 'pre heat' the oven. The cooling fan appears to be working correctly.
