• the capacitor is there to build up a charge to supply a direct current pulse to the motor to start it spinning .the alternating mains current then keeps it spinning without the capacitor the motor will make a buzzing noise but wont start .i suggest you open the switch housing inthe centre of the handle and study the old wiring -take a photo or make a sketch i think you will find the capacitor in that assembly but i have not needed to explore that one yet By bernie - stanford le hope essex - 12 November 2011
