Washing Machine Carbon Brushes - Pack of 2
If you have noticed that the washing machine is not spinning at its normal levels, or is perhaps making more noise than is usual, then it could be due to a faulty carbon brush. The carbon brush conducts electricity from the fixed parts of the motor through the moving parts of the motor and is a key internal part of the workings of your washing machine.
With the help of eSpares and this replacement spare carbon brush, we could soon get you back to a fully working washing machine again.
This replacement carbon brush is a genuine spare part and will fit select models of Creda and Hotpoint washing machines with Bosch motors.
Please check the suitable model fit list to ensure that this is the correct part for your appliance.

I thought the problem may be with the door locking mechanism, so fitted another one (with your instructions, thank you) but the light still flashes. Originally the door wouldn't open after a washing cycle. I did wait, tried a different setting, but still wouldn't open. I did eventually open with a lot of tugging etc. Now I have the reverse problem and it won't lock, but the door does shut and open. Do I need new brushes?

In that case depending on model check if it has brushes and are they worn out. If the brushes are OK it could be a module fault and you will need an Engineer as these have to be programmed. If this is the case contact Repaircare for a fixed price quote.
- I fitted a new door lock thismorning. The door not opening after a cycle was the original problem, but managed to get door open. Then the next wash the cycle wouldnt start, as door lock was flashing. So fitted a new one thismorning, but still the door locking light is flashing. Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear in original post.

The original fault suggests it may have been brushes but you may have damaged the door lock and that may now need replacing as well.
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA30 and I need to replace the carbon brushes. I have taken off the panel at the back of the machine to locate the motor and belt but can't find the brushes. Have taken off top panel as well but no luck in finding them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sunn, the carbon brushes are located at the back of the washing machine next to the motor. Generally, you will have to remove 3 screws and slide the top off. This is where the motor should be located. From there on, you should be able to access the motor and tilt it towards you enough to remove the faulty brushes and replace them with brand new ones!
