Mine has broken off and am reluctant to buy a new machine to replace this one, it is only 27 years old you know!!. Is it just a matter of pushing the new one home or does the whole assembly need removing first. Currently I see the small bolt in the middle of the assembly. Thank you

It is impossible for us to be certain exactly how much has broken off. Look up the 'Timer' for your model and confirm the control shaft is complete and undamaged. If this is OK then it is worth ordering the knob. It may be necessary to remove the timer from the front panel to fit the knob.

Hi sapper, what you'll need to do is jimmy the whole control knob assembly out of the control panel, using a blunt object for leverage. From here putting the new control knob in should be a piece of cake. Best of luck!
