Cooker Hood PCB Module

A working cooker hood is designed to remove airborne grease, cooking smells and fumes from your kitchen, whilst reducing the amount of grease build up. The PCB failed five years ago and was replaced. The fan has failed again and the PCB appears to be fine (last time the PCB had burn marks on it). How can I tell if the PCB has failed again or if it's the fan that has failed ?

Check the fan motor with a meter and that it spins freely. If this is OK then it is reasonable to assume the fault is with the board. If no signs of damage can be found on the board it is not possible for the average person to prove faulty without replacing it.

  • I think that if it came with a tail then it'd be a large sub-assembly with the hood lights and enclosure as well. Looking at the lights and the PCB I think you need to warm up your soldering iron. I think it'd also cost an arm and leg more than it already does. By head4heights - Woking - 17 October 2012
