Having a broken door handle can make doing the laundry a drag at best, you usually wouldn't be able to keep the door locked. So, get yourself a replacement kit:

when the spring is fine the only part I need is the handle itself as it just snapped off and it's too expensive right now for the whole kit that I don't need. Luckily I can still open it with my finger or flathead screwdriver Any advice if there is just the handle on its own for AEG lavamat 14840 ? As found some at half the cost on other sites as it's just the handle nothing else, but they can't confirm what models it will fit on. Or am I missing something about the spring as its functional properly so don't see any point in replacing everything. I will if I need to but will take me another month of saving as my fridge freezer also faulty same week.
