have a mini trim (as above) and am missing a spare part I think it is to keep the wire short!?

Check the cutting head that there is no part broken or stuck and it is clean from dust and debris. Check the cord bobbin is loaded correctly and wound tight. We do not have an exploded diagram to be able to offer any other advise on this trimmer.
