My machine will heat up but when it does the steam is coming from the cap and nothing will come out the hose/trigger. unsure wether cap is relieving or if it is likely to be this gasket on the cap? The cap then cannot be unscrewed until the unit has cooled fully.

Try a new seal and confirm it is not blocked by trying to draw water through the hose when cold.
- I'm in a very soft water area so unlikely to be a lime scale issue. Any other suggestions?

If in hard water the gun and spray nozzle or the boiler outlet may be blocked with limescale. Try using Stock Number: ES1541155 to clear the build up if in a hard water area.
SC1122. the o ring seems fine,what else could be the likely problem ?

If either connector is damaged or the pipe itself to the connector may be leaking.
