Dishwasher Anti-Overflow Single Inlet Solenoid Valve

If you've got a blocked or faulty inlet valve in your dishwasher it can cause massive amounts of damage, so why not replace it?

A dishwasher solenoid valve stores electricity and when it receives the appropriate signal from the dishwashers control cycle, the solenoid uses the stored power to move a lever. This opens to let water pass or closes to keep water in. As the solenoid is an electrically-operated component, a broken or corroded wire can cause it to fail.

This replacement spare from eSpares could be just the solution for you. We could soon have you back to a fully working dishwasher in no time!

MY favorit refuses to fill - and I have tried everything else. When I remove the existing overflow valve and empty it, shake it around and refit it, I get one cycle out of the machine, then I am back to square one.

  • My DH102 had the same fault, it had been working on and off for some time but finally totally failed. The total failure was this valve which stopped the dishwasher from filling at all. The intermittent problem was the device behind the left hand side panel. The test is simple you simply put the dishwasher on its right side for 5 seconds (power off!). If that fixes the problem for a week then you need to clean out this device! Its a horrible job but it fixes the dishwasher. Rob By rmarston - UK - 01 April 2010

Hi Skipton, it sounds as if the inlet valve in your washer is either blocked or faulty. Check for blockage, and if it still doesn't work, quote me your washer's specific model number and I will locate the valve you need.

Answer this question

Took the old dishwasher inlet valve to bits, cleaned a small amount of debris out, checked water hose at same time, good flow. Blew in pipe that connects to inlet valve and that was clear. Put all back together and the machine worked once or twice. Then fitted a new inlet valve and dishwasher then only worked once. Can you help?

It sounds like a possible blockage in the air system that may be causing the valve to lock out, check the pipes.

I am having problems again with my Zanussi ZDI 6041 Semi Integrated Dishwasher. I reckon it's the float switch is sticking. I was wondering if anyone can advise as to how to access the float switch on this model. Tks

  • If its the same problem as mine, which was no water coming into the washer, its well worth fitting one of these float switches. It doesn't take to long and you only need to undo the inlet pipe and with a philips screw drive remove the faulty part. If you haven't done it before max 30 minutes. Well, I got this part in the post today, fitted it this evening to our Zanussi DA6141, Dead easy to fit, took less than 30 mins from start to finish and it is a like for like part :). Unfortunately, the Diswasher still isn't filling with water. :( Does anybody know what could possibly be the problem? I'd prefer to fix it myself if possible :)

  • Blockages in the machine will cause this valve to lockout. Check pipes under the machine for blockages also examine the water softening device on the left hand side this can also become blocked. By tevetron - Slough - 01 January 2012
