It is likely to be the switch but you will need to examine both before deciding what part is required.

If the machine only runs when the button is pressed suspect the door lock Stock Number: ES552148 as this switch is not supposed to latch and the problem is likely to be the lock.
I have purchased a replacement start switch, but the video does not relate to my dryer. Please explain how to replace switch.

We are sorry but this is the closest video we have to your repair. To release the switch carefully prise off the button using a couple of small screwdrivers. Then use need nose pliers to press in the 'arrow heads' on the switch until it can pass back through he mounting hole.
just replaced the start switch but problem is the same as before, the start switch only functions if the switch is held in but the machine functions perfectly until you release the start switch.

Depending on your 'version' this problem is likely to be the relay PCB Stock Number: ES865631 behind the top panel or the door lock Stock Number: ES552148 if no relay is fitted (later models).
My old start switch, when I push it in power comes on but when I let go power goes off. I've replaced the switch but the same happens so espares have sent me another switch which does exactly the same. The switches are not clicking and just springing straight back out. Am I doing something wrong or is it possible that the 2 switches I've been sent are faulty?

These switches contact momentarily and then release. This depending on model activates either a relay, door lock or control board that starts the machine.
