Hi Anon, If your dishwasher isn't filling with water it could be something very simple from preventing it to do so. My parents replaced their dishwasher because of this problem and in the removal of the old washer it turned out that water wasn't going into the appliance because the hose was kinked..... so it's worth trying to do a few simple diagnostics yourself, it could be an easy fix. If you've got a new state of the art dishwasher with an electronic module run the diagnostic test mode first. Remember that before working on any appliance you should completely isolate it from the electricity by unplugging it. Some appliances will store residual energy; so after unplugging it go make yourself a cuppa and enjoy the paper for about 10 minutes.... Here are a few simple things to check: 1. Make sure that the water fill hose isn't kinked and that the water is turned on. 2. Check to make sure that the water valve solenoid is working properly. You'll need to make sure that the dishwasher is completely disconnected from the electricals before testing with an Ohmmeter. 3. If the water valve plunger is stuck this will mean the machine won't fill with water. You'll need to dissemble the valve to find out. Likewise if the water valve inlet screen is blocked this will cause a problem. Make sure that the water supply is turned off before checking the screen. 4. Is it filling but the water is draining out of the dishwasher at the same time? Check your drain hose installation to make sure that it's set up properly. Please remember to be very careful when working on your appliance – make sure it’s unplugged when you’re working on it – or call in a professional who can help show you how it’s done. I hope that some of these tips will help you out!
