Answer this question

I have a rubber seal that goes round the tub inorder to stop leak, do I still need a silicon sealant to go on top of the rubber seal?? I have replacement bearing kit and rubber seal and am in process of doing the job myself. I bought this lovely machine when my son was born, he is now 23 with BA Hons. I am 63 with BSc. This machine has been overloaded but without fail. Now its working like a factory noise.

If your machine is noisy it may require drum bearings. You should not need any silicone sealant to resolve the problem. For more information see our video: How to replace the bearings on a washing machine http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/1401

If you are referring to damage of the door seal then this can be cut or pierced by a bra wire or even dragging heavy towels can rip the lip as it contacts the door.
