This is the switch mounted before the thermostat and this will turn on the oven lamp and fan if fitted. It is the thermostat that controls the temperature.

Answer this question

The multi oven doesn't work, so replaced faulty element. However whenever I turn the operating switch even just to the light/fan position I am getting an earth leakage trip. Would the element failing have caused the switch to fail? Further more , how do I access the rear of the front plate? Does the stove top have to be removed?
