The element is normally secured from the inside, remove the back panel and you will see the element fixing screws.

Answer this question

I have removed the front cover from inside the rear of the oven only to find that the element is secured by two screws at the REAR of the actual cooker! I don't know if this is the correct element or the higher rating element is or do they both screw in from the rear of the actual cooker and not from inside the oven?? Can you advise as I need to order part as soon as possible. Thanks

This element screws from the inside but make sure you check the element is correct for your model before ordering.

Answer this question

Thanks for the video, but I stupidly put the terminals back on incorrectly and plugged the live to earth and v.v. When I switched on there was a pop and now nothing works. element still show OK on a ohm meter, but there's no power to any of the three ovens. Any idea please? Is there a fuse or cutout I need to check/change?

If the cooker is hard wired it will have taken out the fuse in the fuse board or if it has trips it would have tripped that circuit, check that before suspecting anything else.

Answer this question

The wattage on the replacement element fitted by an independent appliance engineer is 2400 and only has 2 connectors (the earth has been disconnected) Will this element just be slower to heat up? Can I just reconnect the earth??

By David Roberts - Newcastle upon Tyne - 30 March 2015

    Chris at eSpares says...

If your original was 1800 watt but the replacement is 2400 then it will heat up quicker. It is not necessary to reconnect the earth to this element as it will be earthed through the chassis of the cooker.

Answer this question

I had to damage the fixings to remove the faulty element so will need new fixing screws. I ordered this before removing the faulty element and had planned to use the existing fixings.

Elements are supplied without fixing screws. Suitable screws can usually be supplied by car spares or DIY stores.
