We have a video :How to replace a Flymo switch box but a more useful video :How to replace a lawnmower switch - Bosch will show how to connect the wires to the switch. Note it can be difficult to remove the wires from the old switch, It may be easier to 'smash' the old switch to release the cables, take photo's first to show wiring details.
Flymo LC-340 is 5/6 years old and worked fine until now with only occasional use.
- No. The capacitor is wired across the mains supply to reduce interference to other equipment, and to reduce arcing across the switch contacts. It has no other effect on the switch, which in your case must be jammed on. However, have a look at the mechanisn before considering the switch itself.
on the new switch it has two scews for the power wires, but only four holes with metal behind two for the capacitor whic I managed to put in but it is impossible to push in the two black wires from the mower plug.

Hi again reetpetite, the four holes without screws have a clasp mechanism inside them; the wires from the mower plug retainer pin should slot in and fix in to place. If they don't, the switch might be defective.

Hi there, to wire in the new switch, simply loosen the two screws, put the wires in the corresponding holes, and tighten the screws back up.
Would I need to purchase the lower and upper housing for this part or is it included?

The part listed is just the switch, you will need to individually buy the other parts.

The capacitor and lead assembly are sold as seperate parts for this lawnmower. These are the stock numbers for both parts: ES931886 ES930786
After replacing the grassbox and closing the lid the machine automatically starts without me having to repress the safety button and hold down the handle.(This is not safe) The other thing that happens is the grassbox only fills to about 15% of capacity and then the motor stops and it insists I empty it, is this another problem, or all part of the same ? Could you suggest which parts needs to be replaced please?

Hi Mikedy1, this switch will fit your mower, and you can find the capacitor you're after here: http://www.espares.co.uk/part/lawnmowers/flymo/p/1116/283/0/0/931886/flymo-capacitor.html
Without a photo being available in the spares list, I am unsure if this is the item I require to repair my machine. Does the switch operate in conjunction with the safety button on the top of the handle housing ? This safety button refuses to stay down when depressed and the handles held in, so the power is not being fed to the machine. I am not sure therefore if I need the 'main' switch and the safety button, or just the power switch alone. Your expertise would be appreciated.

Hi Camperoldbill, this is the switch at the top of the housing - a new one should solve your problem.
Will this part fit my appliance?
