Dyson Vacuum Cleaner On/Off Switch Stock Number: ES966544
Genuine spare part for select models of Dyson vacuum cleaners
How do I get access to replace the switch on my DC03? I have looked at link mentioned previously but cannot find detailed enough info.
- Gain access with caution! To prevent damage to the plastic outer switch plunger you will need 2 small screwdrivers. Prise the yellow switch housing away from the grey outer framework to free the locating pins which lock the two together. This is the tricky part, once one side has been seperated, the second side is easier but do this very cautiously or you will crack the plastic. Once the switch housing is free, unscrew the screw holding the electrical cord in place and work the assembly up and away from the mounting. This will allow access to the switch - ** Make double sure the plug is disconnected from the wall!!! Remove the switch by using a screwdriver to pry the switch up and out of its mounting, disconnect the power leads from the switch (they should be both brown). Do not split the blue wires which are fixed together. Connect the new switch to the brown wires removed and reassemble.
I received the above switch but when we removed the old switch it has 4 prongs and the new one only has 2. Is there another switch available with 4 prongs or can you advise how to fit this one? 1 Answer

Hi there. This is a strange one - I can't find record of any 4 pronged switches in any Dyson vacuum! I'd say that if the switch you are replacing is the on-off switch situated underneath the on-off button, and your vacuum cleaner is one of the models listed as compatible with this part, then you should be able to use this switch.
There are two switches, one for the main cleaner motor and one for the brush motor. Does this switch do both or are they separate switches.

Hi Paul, there is two of this switch in the DC24; one under the on-off button (the main cleaner motor) and one under the brushbar button (the brush motor).

Hi, the exact process for replacing the switch will vary depending on what model you have, but generally it'll involve dismantling the machine so you have access to the motor, as the switch will be connected to it. Check out this page, it's got loads of videos on how to replace parts on Dysons, and may help you with yours: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/vacuum-cleaners/a/4
have replaced the motor in my dysondc14 animal. can you tell me how to wire the part in the handle. have looked on youtube but the wiring is different to mine as it was a dc07 that was having the switch mended.need to know how to put the wires together so machine will work. thanks
